PIB approves Bhopal-Indore Metro rail project, PM Modi to inaugurate

The Project Investment Board (PIB) has approved the Bhopal-Indore metro rail project in Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the project on September 25.

The PIB has approved the project on Tuesday and it needs the Cabinet approval only. The Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government wants to start the project before the scheduled state assembly election, which is due later this year. So it is all set to get the cabinet approval.

Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Company will issue the work order within a week and other formalities will be completed before the end of this month.

It is mandatory to have the PIB approval before starting any mega Railway project, and the project can only start when PIB approves it. Well, in this case, PIB has given approval for both the proposal and now it is clear that the project will start in both the cities, before the assembly election.

The Metro project in the state capital Bhopal costs Rs 22,504.25 crores and 9.503 Km route will be made. whereas the project in Indore costs Rs 26,772 crore and 10.425 km route will be made. The proposed amount for the project is already been approved.
