Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and BJP chief, Amit Shah met the chief ministers and their deputies of all 13 BJP-ruled states on Monday night. The top leaders in the party told the ministers that the government’s vision to shape new India by 2022 was of supreme importance and there was no place for slackers.

Only people-oriented work with the full importance of Central welfare schemes will secure their political future, they said in the meeting.

It was a prolonged four-and-a-half-hour meet at the BJP headquarters. The CMs were asked to give an honest account of the work they have done, and an assessment of the areas under working. Notably, Shah was to leave for Chennai a day before, but his plans were revised. He will stay put in Delhi for now as Cabinet reshuffle may also take place anytime.

The meeting also stressed that the BJP will target Congress for its “anti-poor and anti-OBC” stand to further dent its visions.  Cabinet ministers, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Nirmala Sitharaman, were also present at the meeting. This was PM Modi’s third meeting with the CMs after the BJP came to rule.
