February 27 is known as Pokémon Day. It is the same date when the first Pokémon games launched in Japan in 1996. The year 2026 is very special because it marks 30 years of Pokémon. That makes this event even more important.
The event will stream at this time:
- Eastern Time:9:00 AM ET — Friday, February 27, 2026
Last year’s show ran for more than 20 minutes. In 2025, fans saw the first gameplay trailer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which later released in October. So this time people expect at least the same length and maybe even more surprises.
There could also be fresh updates about Pokémon Champions. This new title is made to support official tournaments for many years. It is planned to launch in 2026 on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Android, and iOS devices.

Will Generation 10 Appear?
Many fans are also thinking about the next big main games. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet came out in 2022. Usually new main games follow after a few years. There are rumors that the next titles might be called Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Wave, but these names are not confirmed yet.
If Generation 10 is shown, many people believe it could be made only for the Switch 2. There are simple reasons for :
- The original Switch’s hardware limitations have become increasingly apparent.
- A flagship Pokémon release would be a powerful sales driver for the new console, which launched in 2025.
