UP polls: Farmers boycott voting at polling booth alleging lack of development

People in Mirzapur boycotted voting at booth 283 complaining that there was no development in their area. The seventh and last phase of Uttar Pradesh polls is underway on Wednesday, wherein people of 40 constituencies including PM Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi will choose their candidate.

The anticipated polling was backed up by a series of rally and campaign from various leaders of all party, last week. From rallies to road shows, leaders left no stone unturned in this seven fold polls in UP.

Over 1.41 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the seventh and last phase of the assembly elections, including 76.87 lakh men and 64.99 lakh women. A total of 706 voters are of the third gender.

Notably, voting in the last six phases in UP was conducted calmly. The fallout will be declared on March 11 together with that of Manipur, Uttarakhand, Goa and Punjab.
