Yesterday, shocking news surfaced of TV actor Karan Oberoi being arrested after a woman registered an FIR against the actor for allegedly raping and blackmailing her.
Ever since the actor has been arrested, social media is filled with the news of Karan Oberoi and there has been a lot of questions that are surfacing in our minds.
Actress Pooja Bedi who worked with Karan and were his bandmates in’ A band of Boy’ came out in defense of the actor and spoke about the charges laid against him in an interview.
Speaking about the charges, Pooja said “One thing I can say about Karan is that he is one of the nicest, most decent and kindest person. So when the charges of rape, extortion were laid on Karan and other things that were in blasted in were in media, the fact is we know the facts, we know how things happened. According to the known things, they met in 2016 end, in 2018 Karan filed an NC against this woman in Powai police station, post this, she filed a complaint against Karan in October 2018.
She then added, “In November 2018 in an interview, she has spoken about her relationship with Karan and said that she has given him gifts, he was not financially well off and these were her own words. In 2019 May FIR she has said that she was raped in 2017 and he was extorting from her. I don’t know how to make sense of this. Just based on facts you can decide for yourself. I am a huge supporter of women’s right but we also have to stand up for men’s rights as we believe inequality. Many women misuse the laws for their personal vendetta. So if women are misusing the laws to terrorize men then what’s punishment for it?
Pooja further said, “A false charge can ruin a man’s life, so why it is that woman should not be questioned. There should be strong action against women who misuse the law. Everyone who knows Karan has come for his defense as everyone knows Karan is an amazing guy.
Pooja was asked if Karan ever told her about the lady in question, to which she said, “He did mention the woman and filed a complaint and he informed his security as well.”
