Popular TV actor Karan Oberoi has been arrested in connection with an alleged rape case.
As per the reports, a 38-year old woman has alleged that the actor has sexually abused her and also demanded ransom from her.
Karan Singh Oberoi has worked in several Hindi serials and advertisements till now. He is known for playing a role in popular serial ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi’. He has also hosted a few shows.
According to reports, a woman who is an astrologer has met the actor in 2016 through Tinder App and they also met on several occasions. reportedly, after some-time, the actor was not interested in keeping a relationship with her and even told her about it.
In January 2017, when he was at his home, he gave her a cure for coconut after he had sexually abused her. In relation to this, he had made a video from his mobile. The next day he told her the type of story and made a video of the relation between them.
She then requested that the video be deleted. But he started to blackmail him. To delete the video, she was demanding money and other items. he also asked money from her to pay his bank installments by blackmailing her.
The actor had sexually abused her on different occasions when she asked him to get married. At this time, he called her and promised to return all her things, money and get married to her. But he also asked her for Rs 50,000 in order to marry her. However, in October 2018, he again threatened to send her by saying that he would not return her ‘money, baggage, and would not delete the video.’
After this incident, she lodged in Oshiwara police and filed a complaint against Karan Oberoi.
Police had started a search after the crime was registered under ransom and rape charges. On Sunday, he was arrested by a special squad of Oshiwara police, while the search was on. In the same crime, he is currently in police custody and is being questioned thoroughly by the police.
It is said that the woman lives with her mother and her son in the Andheri area, Mumbai.
On the work front, Karan had started his television journey with Mahesh Bhatt’s Swabhimaan, where he played Bobby and later starred in shows like Saaya and Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi.
As per reports, the actor is being produced at Andheri Court today for the rape charges.
