Poster boy of broken promises: Congress on PM Modi

In a commentary titled “Soaring inflation, rising intolerance, Rupee in ICU, youths in long queue! Are these the ‘Achhe Din’ promised by PM Modi?” the Congress party has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Calling him the “poster boy for broken promises”, the opposition party has dubbed his tenure of two years as a “regime of lies”. While criticizing the BJP government, the party says, “PM Modi has become the poster boy for broken promises. His entire government and politics is built on a foundation of deceit and falsities.”

They have alleged that while campaigning for power, Modi promised the world to India and was “able to spread lies, in the garb of truth, across the nation. But, PM Modi’s claims have been exposed in the last 2 years, as he after promising Indians two crore jobs a year has only delivered 1.35 lakh jobs”.

Taking a jibe at Modi supporters who laude of his foreign policy and visits, the party writes, “This is after he had been screaming hoarse on how the Indian economy is booming under his government. If the economy is booming, where are the jobs? In a stark contrast, the UPA created 9 lakh jobs in 2011.” His frequent travels were also targeted, and “exposing” his aggressive pre-election stance on ceasefire violations, the party was quick to remind him of numerous ceasefire violations, cross border infiltrations, Pathankot, Gurudaspur and Pampore attacks along with the latest NSG debacle. Saying that, “Experts are still trying to find the success stories of Shri Modi’s foreign policy,” Congress also raked up the recent aggressive stances taken up by China, Pakistan and Russia as, Russia has removed its arms embargo on Pakistan, China is going full steam ahead in propping up Pakistan, and the US has agreed to sell Pakistan fighter planes.

On the home front too, the party alleges that BJP led government has failed the women of India, in its failure to stop crimes related to women and children and has also failed the “households” of India by their perpetual failure to control inflation.

Claiming that when Modi would eventually relinquish office, he would have left India “broken and battered”, the opposition party said it is the duty of every Indian to defend their nation and fight the “regime of lies” imposed by PM Modi and RSS.
