Premier League Darts Schedule 2026: The World Darts Championship is over after 24 exciting days. Now the Premier League begins. It will last for 17 weeks and feature the biggest darts stars playing hard matches every week.

World No. 2 Luke Humphries is back and wants to win the Premier League again this year. But the challenge will not be easy. He will compete against strong players like World Championship finalist Gian van Veen and the experienced star Michael van Gerwen. Another major rival is Luke Littler, the same player Humphries beat in last year’s Premier League final.

Littler is only 18 years old but has already won two world titles. Because of his strong form, bookmakers see him as the favourite to win the Premier League and take back the trophy.

Qualified Players

Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gian van Veen, and Michael van Gerwen all earned direct entry into this year’s Premier League. Their performances made them automatic choices. Along with them, the PDC selected four wildcard players to complete the lineup. These are Jonny Clayton, Stephen Bunting, Josh Rock, and Gerwyn Price.

What is the Premier League Format ?

The Premier League runs for 16 nights and each night works like a small tournament. Every night begins with four quarterfinal matches. All 8 players take part. Winners move forward until one player wins the final of that night.

Each match is played as best of 11 legs. The first player to win 6 legs wins the match. Players earn points based on how far they go each night. After 16 weeks, the top four players in the table qualify for Finals Night. This big event will take place in London on May 23.

Premier League points system:

  • Nightly winner:5 points
  • Runner-up:3 points
  • Losing semifinalists:2 points

Players meet each other once in the quarterfinals between weeks 1 and 7. They meet again between weeks 9 and 15. In weeks 8 and 16, matches are decided by each player’s place in the table.

On Finals Night, the player who finishes first plays the one who finishes fourth. The second placed player faces the third. These semifinal matches are best of 19 legs. The first to reach 10 legs wins. The final match is best of 21 legs and the first to 11 legs becomes the Premier League champion.

Nine Darter Drama

No one hit a nine-darter during the World Championship. Because of this, fans expect to see one during the 16 weeks of Premier League matches. Gerwyn Price has hit more Premier League nine-darters than any other player.

Any player who hits a nine-darter will receive a special prize. Tournament sponsor BetMGM will give them a set of 18-carat gold darts worth £30,000.

Last year saw a record number of nine-darters. Five perfect legs were hit during the tournament. Luke Humphries and Rob Cross both hit nine-darters on Night Five in Brighton. The crowd was thrilled. Gerwyn Price also made history last year by hitting his fourth and fifth nine-darters in Manchester and Aberdeen. This placed him further then of Phil Taylor’s total.

Greatest Champions in Premier League History

Michael van Gerwen is the most successful player in Premier League history. He has won the title seven times. His first win came in 2013. He then won four times in a row from 2016 to 2019. He won again in 2022 and most recently in 2023.

Phil Taylor also had a strong run. He won the first four Premier League titles and finished his career with six total wins. Gary Anderson has won the Premier League twice. Other winners include James Wade, Raymond van Barneveld, Glen Durrant, Jonny Clayton, Luke Humphries, and Luke Littler, each winning the title once.
