President Pranab Mukherjee will present the 64th National Film Awards in New Delhi on Wednesday. The names of the winner of the awards were declared last month.
The president will be accompanied by information and broadcasting minister M Venkaiah Naidu and MoS Col Rajyavardhan Rathore during the event.
While Akshay Kumar has been chosen for the Best Actor Award for Hindi movie, Rustom, Surabhi has been named as the best actress for her role in Malayalam film, Minnaminungu- The Firefly.
Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja was named as the Best Hindi Film while the actress received special mention for her work in the film. Sonam who will attend the awards function today had said that being recognised by the National Film Awards jury is “sweet and encouraging”.
“My mother (Sunita) told me that I had received a special mention and I found it sweet and encouraging. I was like ‘is it a consolation award?’ She told me to speak to Anupam Kher uncle as he received it for Daddy. I spoke to Shabana (Azmi) aunty as well about it,” said Sonam.
