Prisoners To Get Amnesty: The Union Home Ministry has been instructed the eligible prisoners to get amnesty who have been condemned to certain categories of imprisonment as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of India’s independence. As part of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, some 186 state prisoners will be released from prison on July 4.
Amitabh Gupta, additional director general of police for the Maharashtra Prisons Department, and Dr. Jalinder Supekar, special inspector general of police, have urged the 186 prisoners who will be released from custody to give up crime and take up productive roles in society. They have also wished them luck in the future.
Numerous Prisoner Programmes Will Take Place in Prisons
On Tuesday, the nation will commemorate its 76th Independence Day, and a number of events have been planned all across the place. Three rounds of special amnesty were given to specific kinds of offenders in state prisons on Amrit Mahotsav, the day of Independence. The third stage of this amnesty stipulates that 186 inmates must be released from custody.
“The amnesty scheme’s goals are to promote early prisoner release and instill discipline and behaviour among the inmates. The Union Home Secretariat has defined amnesty system characteristics and amnesty scheme conditions. Thus, the Maharashtra Prisons Department granted a special amnesty that resulted in the release of 581 prisoners in three parts. Approximately 206 prisoners were released on August 15, 2022 in the first phase, 189 prisoners on January 26, 2023 in the second phase, and 186 prisoners on August 15, 2023 in the third phase, according to a prison official.

Information Regarding The Prisoners To Get Amnesty
According to the Central Government’s directives, seven male convicts who have reached the age of 60 and have served half of their total sentences will be released on Independence Day. Ten young offenders who committed a crime between the ages of 12 and 21 and have not committed any additional crimes will also be released on this day. Two of the guilty parties have served their sentences but are unable to cover the fine.
