Proud moment! Jharkhand based films ‘Lohardaga’ & ‘Phulmania’ to be featured at Cannes Film Fest 2019

Directed by Lal Vijay Sahdeo, both the films will be screened in Cannes Film Festival 2019 at France on Wednesday and Thursday.

The 72nd edition of Festival de Cannes will once again have the best of films representing the art, culture and style from all walks of life. What will be more interesting and rather a proud moment for India is to see a few regional films being premiered among the many high rated productions.

‘Lohardaga’ and ‘Phulmania’, the two films made by Jharkhand based producer and director Lal Vijay Sahdeo, will be screened in Cannes Film Festival 2019 at France on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

A native of Lohardaga in Jharkhand, Shahdeo has worked as a theatre actor, to his shift to television as casting director and finally a director.

Shahdeo, who has reportedly left for France, said that both the films were made in limited resources and budget. Both the films are based on the issues of Jharkhand and shot in Jharkhand.

Shahdeo directed feature film “Lohardaga” in 2017, that was premiered in the first JIFFA. The story of the film revolves around the life of a young boy who gradually took the path of Maoism due to various social and economical issues. The film cast includes some of the noted actors including Sanjay Mishra, Vijay Raaz and many others.

On the other hand, Shahdeo’s another film ‘Phoolmania’ was his first Nagpuri debut, that premiered in the JIFFA 2019. The story of the film revolved around a young girl who is declared a witch by the villagers after demise of her husband and the hardships she had to face.
