Steam Deck Price Hike: Valve has pushed up the price of the Steam Deck OLED in a big way. On Valve’s own store, the 512GB model is now $789 and the 1TB model is $949. That is a jump of about 43.7% for the 512GB version and about 46.2% for the 1TB version compared with the earlier prices.
That makes the handheld much harder to ignore. The 512GB model now costs more than a normal PS5 in the U.S., and the 1TB model is even pricier than a PS5 Pro. Valve has said the device is still available, but the higher price has clearly changed how people look at it.

The bigger worry now is the PlayStation 6. Sony has already said it has not decided the PS6 launch timing or final price yet, and the company has linked that uncertainty to rising memory costs. In a recent company discussion, Sony’s messaging on the next system was that the future of the platform is “top of mind”.
That is why some people are now thinking the PS6 could end up much more expensive than many expected. Earlier hopes for a $499 launch now look less sure, especially after the recent jump in hardware prices across the market. Still, that kind of PS6 pricing is not confirmed. It is only fear and guessing at this point.
Still Some Hope Left
There is one reason not to panic yet. Sony sells consoles at a much bigger scale than Valve, so it may still be able to spread costs better and keep the PS6 price lower than people fear. That is an inference, not an official promise. Sony has also not given a final release date, so the company still has time to adjust plans if memory prices settle down.
