Voter turnout in the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll has reached 33.42% by early afternoon. The election process, which began at 7 AM, is under tight security and will conclude at 6 PM, with vote counting scheduled for June 23.
District Election Officer Himanshu Jain confirmed that the polling process is proceeding peacefully.
He urged voters to set a new record in turnout by casting their votes in large numbers, ensuring everyone in line by the closing time will have the chance to vote.
The by-election follows the death of AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi and involves 14 candidates. New initiatives, including 100% live webcasting and designated mobile phone deposit counters, aim to enhance voter experience and maintain voting secrecy.
