Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday interacted with migrant workers who were walking near Sukhdev Vihar flyover in Delhi to return to their home states. Rahul Gandhi arranged vehicles for the migrants and provided them with food, water and masks.
The migrant workers were walking from Ambala to Jhansi and left with no option but to walk to their homes after they ran out of food, money, and shelter due to the nationwide coronavirus lockdown.
“Rahul Gandhi met us half and hour back. He booked the vehicle for us and said he will drop us to our homes. He gave us food, water, and mask”, said Devendra a migrant worker.
Taking to Twitter, the Congress Party shared a few pictures of Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with the migrant labourers in Delhi. “The pain of the people can only be understood by leaders who care. Here are a few glimpses of Shri @RahulGandhi interacting with migrant labourers in Delhi”, the Congress tweeted.

The Congress Party on Saturday also alleged that few migrant workers were taken into private custody by Delhi police after their interaction with the former President of Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi.
Police sources, however, said that it is misinformation that migrants who met with Rahul Gandhi were detained by police, migrants are still at spot, as per rules they are not being allowed to board a vehicle as a large group, which some Congress workers offered.
