Congress plans to call a nation-wide conference to expose Narendra Modi government over Rafale Deal. According to reports, Rahul Gandhi has constituted a team of six members for the conference which will be lead by Senior Congress leader Jaipal Reddy. The press conference will be held at 100 cities all over India and 50 Congress leaders will be actively responsible to hold the conferences, as reported by ANI.

Rafale Deal has been in controversy for quite some time now. During no-confidence motion against NDA in Lok Sabha on July 20, 2018, the Congress had raised their suspicion in the Rafale deal. Rahul Gandhi in his speech had claimed that the government’s refusal from revealing the price of the fighter jet with an excuse of an Agreement of Secrecy with French government is a lie and baseless. Ever since then the controversy has remained a hot topic in the political corridors as well as in media.

In 2016, India signed an inter-governmental agreement with France called Rafale Deal. India in this deal bought 36 off-the-shelf Dassault Rafale twin-engine fighters for a price estimated to be Rs 58,000 crore or 7.8 billion Euros. But when the government was asked about the details of the fighter jets’ price, initially, Defence Minister Nirmala Sithaaman had promised to provide the details later she refused saying that the secrecy pact between India and France government does not allow to reveal the informations publicly.

Whereas, the deal which was signed during UPA government between India and France does not prohibits the country from reveling the price details although the informations that can be of threat to nation’s security cannot be revealed under this.
