The film acquired the rights to Amazon Prime Video for the digital rights prior to its theatrical release, which is an overt bid by the video arm. The reported deal on digital rights was a huge sum of ₹90 crores. It is an exciting announcement, now officially confirmed that Vettaiyan will go for an OTT release and the movie will make a digital premiere on November 8.

As per trade reports, ‘Vettaiyan’ had collected over Rs 250 crore in its third week, but the movie was not successful at the box office. However, this latest film of Rajinikanth became a hit for the makers after collecting a huge amount at pre-release.
Vettaiyan storyline and cast
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, who made his directional debut with Jai Bhim fame, the movie is on a free-spirited cop, SP Athiyan, celebrated for no-nonsense investigation and police justice.
It was the first time Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan were to share the silver screen since the 1991 film Hum. However, Gnanavel also mentioned that there is a prequel to that movie, which will be developed based on Athiyan’s background wherein the movie will give audiences a peek into the mind of the character and find out what led him in making certain choices.
Apart from Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, the lead cast also includes Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh, and Abhirami. The movie is releasing in theatres worldwide on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. ‘Vettaiyan’ is an intense journey of SP Athiyan, who is not just an ordinary policeman; he is one who gives justice as well as sticks to law in an extreme and unorthodox way as a policeman.
