Five kg of gold jewellery worth around ₹90 lakh was allegedly looted by three unidentified persons from a branch of Muthoot Fincorp, a gold finance company at Dhoraji town in Rajkot, said police.

“Three unidentified persons entered a branch of Muthoot Fincorp at Dhoraji and looted 4.8 kg gold jewellery at gun point,” Rajkot (Rural) SP Antrip Sood said as per a report in DNA.

The thieves were armed with country-made revolver and knife. Their criminal act was caught on the CCTV camera and based on it the police initiated a search operation, Sood added.

“We have sealed the exit points and have launched a hunt for the robbers with the help of CCTV footages,” he said.

In the CCTV footages, three robbers armed with revolver and knife can be seen forcing the employees of Muthoot Fincorp at Dhoraji branch to open the locker from where they had taken out gold jewellery and flew in no time.

As far as this, the police have not been able to identify the robbers but efforts are on to nab them.

Well, this is not the first such incident. Few months ago, five and a half kilograms of gold jewellery and ₹1,34,000 were stolen from a Muthoot mini finance centre in Salemwas in Salem in another case of robbery. Reportedly, the robbers entered the shop by making a hole in the back wall.
