Record Hike for PCB Players

Record Hike for PCB Players: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to offer Pakistani cricketers record-breaking wage increases on their central contracts. During negotiations regarding the player’s participation in international T20 leagues, the board is expected to offer a quadruple increase over the previous year’s top-tier contracts.

Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, according to ESPN Cricinfo, could earn a staggering PKR 4.5 million (approximately USD 15,900) per month. In contrast to previous contracts, which distinguished between red- and white-ball players, the most recent one classifies players into four distinct categories.

As captains and all-format players, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi will be in category A, according to reports.

Category B participants will receive approximately PKR 3 million (approximately USD 10,600), whereas players in categories C and D will receive between PKR 0.75 and 1.5 million (approximately USD 2,650 and $5,000).

The Pakistan cricket board’s earnings will increase by PKR 9.6 billion following the implementation of the ICC’s new revenue distribution model, which is anticipated to take place in the upcoming year.

The senior players who are already in demand in other countries are earning a lot of money, but the others need a pay rise. The PCB has acknowledged the significance of foreign Twenty20 leagues, confessing that its players do not participate in tournaments that provide life-altering earnings.

Thus, the increase could prove to be a game-changer in Pakistan cricket, particularly for the lowest-paid players. Additionally, their limited participation in foreign T20 competitions as a result of PCB’s restrictive policies has impacted their earnings.

In addition, it has been learned that the domestic contracts will be presented to players shortly, with likely increased retainers and the possibility of earning more by participating in two first-class tournaments, one for regional teams and one for department-based sides.
