Xiaomi introduced the device in India on September 3, 2026. The company had already shown it outside India earlier.
In its pitch for the Redmi 17 5G, Xiaomi focuses on three things. Battery endurance is one. The display is another. The phone’s everyday 5G use is the third.
There is a difference versus the global model. The international version uses a 7,500mAh battery. The Indian variant includes a larger 7,900mAh unit instead.
Charging options are also included. The phone supports 45W fast charging. It also offers 22.5W wired reverse charging.
Redmi 17 5G Price in India
In India, the Redmi 17 5G is sold in two configurations.
- 6GB RAM + 128GB storage: ₹39,999
- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage: ₹41,999
However, Xiaomi’s net effective prices are considerably lower. The 6GB model has an effective price of ₹23,999, while the 8GB version comes down to ₹26,999 under the applicable launch pricing/offer structure.
This puts the Redmi 17 5G in a competitive sub-₹30,000 effective-price segment, where battery capacity and display size could be major selling points.
Redmi 17 5G Sale Date and Availability
The Redmi 17 5G will go on sale in India from September 10, 2026.
Buyers will be able to purchase the smartphone through Amazon, Xiaomi’s online store and retail outlets. It comes in three colour options: Absolute Black, Endless Blue and Eternal Orange.
The Eternal Orange variant adds a vegan-leather-style finish, while the phone’s rear camera module features a dynamic lighting element that gives the design a more distinctive features.

Redmi 17 5G Launched in India Specifications
The Redmi 17 5G is built around a large 6.9-inch HD+ LCD panel. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling, animations and compatible games appear smoother than on conventional 60Hz displays.
The display has a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels and supports up to 240Hz touch sampling. Xiaomi also uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for additional protection.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Processor
The chipset uses a 4nm manufacturing process and has CPU speeds reaching up to 2.4GHz. Redmi claims the phone can cross 660,000 points on AnTuTu, although benchmark results can vary depending on testing conditions and software versions.
The Indian model comes with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of storage. Memory expansion is also supported, while storage expansion is available through a microSD card on supported configurations.
7,900mAh Battery With 45W Charging
Battery life is arguably the biggest highlight of the Redmi 17 5G. The Indian model packs a 7,900mAh battery, which is larger than the 7,500mAh unit offered on the global version. Xiaomi pairs it with 45W fast charging and up to 22.5W wired reverse charging.
The reverse-charging feature allows the Redmi 17 5G to act as a power source for compatible accessories and other devices.
Xiaomi’s official global specifications also say the battery is designed to retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,000 full charging cycles under its stated testing conditions.
Camera: 50MP Rear and 8MP Selfie
For photography, the Redmi 17 5G gets a 50MP AI dual-camera system on the rear.
The front camera is an 8MP sensor housed in the punch-hole display. Video recording is supported at up to 1080p at 30fps.

The dynamic RGB lighting around the rear camera module is another design-focused feature. Xiaomi says it can be used for functions such as charging status, notifications and camera-related indicators.
