Redmi Note 17 Series Confirmed to Launch: Xiaomi has officially confirmed the Redmi Note 17 series will launch in China later this month. This puts an end to all speculation and uncertainty about the company’s upcoming mid-range smartphones. While Xiaomi has not provided an exact date for the official unveiling, the company has started hinting at the upcoming devices.

In the meantime, Xiaomi shared a huge accomplishment. The Redmi Note series crossed a milestone of 500 million cumulative global shipments in 12 years.
Xiaomi Skips Redmi Note 16
One notable change for the Redmi Note 17 series this year is Xiaomi’s branding. The Chinese firm will not be releasing a Redmi Note 16 series. Instead, it’s jumping directly to Redmi Note 17.
This decision brings the numbering scheme for the Note series in sync with its flagship Xiaomi series. Although Xiaomi has not explained why, it’s believed to be an effort to streamline product portfolios.
Redmi Note 17 Series Confirmed to Launch
Xiaomi has kept hardware specs of the Redmi Note 17 series quite well-guarded for now.
However, the company has confirmed improvements in the following areas:

Global Launch Expected Later This Year
As confirmed by the company, the Redmi Note 17 series will first be launched in China. However, due to regulatory certifications and previous release patterns, it’s safe to assume that these smartphones will also be made available in international markets, including India, later this year.
According to Lu Weibing, features that were once standard in entry-level and mid-range devices such as OLED displays, advanced water resistance, and high-strength protective glass have become increasingly rare in the sub-1,000 yuan (~$140 USD / ~ Rs. 14,000) price bracket.
In a similar fashion to the announcement teaser, Xiaomi has also shared information that the Redmi Note series has reached more than 500 million total global shipments in 12 years.
