Reema Lagoo 6th Death Anniversary: Revisit the movies of Bollywood's Maa

Reema Lagoo 6th Death Anniversary: Following the death of veteran Bollywood actress Reema Lagoo in 2017, the Hindi film industry was left with a significant vacancy.

The actress achieved widespread renown for her portrayal of the archetypal doting mother in a number of critically acclaimed films released in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Not only was Reema Lagoo well-known for her work in Bollywood, but she was also well-known for her work in Marathi cinema and theatre.

After acting as Kokila Kulkarni in the iconic TV sitcom ‘Shriman Shrimati’ in the 1990s and as Devaki Verma, starring opposite Supriya Pilgaonkar in ‘Tu Tu Main Main’ in the same decade, she became a well-known face in Indian pop culture.

She is known for her work in a number of critically acclaimed films in Bollywood, such as “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,” “Maine Pyar Kiya,” “Rangeela,” “Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!,” “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” “Hum Saath Saath Hain,” and “Kal Ho Naa Ho,” among others.

On the fifth anniversary of Reema Lagoo’s passing, here is a look at some of the most memorable films that she starred in during her time in Bollywood:

Maine Pyar Kiya

In the movie “Maine Pyar Kiya,” Reema Lagoo portrayed the role of Prem’s mother. Salman Khan played the role of Prem. In the movie, she disobeyed her husband and supported her son in order to pursue what she believed would bring her son the most joy.

Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!

In the family drama, Reema Lagoo portrayed the archetypal role of “samdhan,” and the audience absolutely adored the banter that she shared with Alok Nath. In the movie, she had a supporting role as Renuka Shahane and Madhuri Dixit’s mother.

Hum Saath Saath Hain

Mamta, the character that Lagoo played in the film “Hum Saath Saath Hain,” is a woman who, after being instigated by her friends and turning against her stepson Vivek (who was played by Mohnish Bahl), comes to recognise that she has made a mistake at the film’s conclusion.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Lagoo played the role of Kajol’s mother in the classic film, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji. Lagoo’s character offers emotional support to her daughter when the latter suffers a heartbreak.

Kal Ho Naa Ho

Lagoo played a mother to SRK once again in the film ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho,’ and she produced a tearjerking performance as she bids farewell to her terminally ill son who is on his deathbed.
