Popular film producer, philanthropist and entrepreneur V K Mohan reportedly committed suicide on Monday, March 22 by hanging himself at his hotel at Peenya on Monday, March 23.
Mohan hailing from Kundapur taluk, Udupi district, who had a close association with Dr Rajkumar’s family since long was a famous movie producer and hotelier. It is gathered that Mohan was mentally ravaged for some time.
Reportedly, Mohan arrived at the hotel on Sunday night and had not opened the door of his room on Monday, hotel staffs, who grew suspicious and peeped through the room window, found Mohan hanging.
Mohan was a film producer. He was running a private finance business. He had built a posh bungalow, that was worth crore of rupees at Sadashiva Nagara of Bengaluru. In addition, he also owned a palatial bungalow at Vakwadi, his native place. Many well-known and talented actors used to visit his house. He was well recognized in society and was a member of many organizations.
Vakwadi was a well-known philanthropist. He used to help poor students for their education. He had lent financial help towards the marriage of girls from poor families. He used to donate generously to religious functions, sports meet and cultural activities.
It is said that Mohan started facing financial difficulties after demonetisation. The Income Tax department has conducted several rides on his property and offices. Though he had recently got the bus stand complex through tender, he did not get the expected income out of it.
