Yet another sad news from the industry flood in, renowned Malayalam poet, activities Sugathakumari passed away earlier this day due to covid-19 complications at Thiruvanthram aged 86.
The Padma Shri awardee Sugathakumari for past one week was admitted at the medical college hospital in Thiruvanthram due to testing positive for the deadly covid-19 pandemic. The complications led to bronchopneumonia, which led to inflammation in the air sacs in the lungs.
Sugathakumari was declared to be in a critical state yesterday and many Twitter users took to social media to depict their tension. Sadly, the news of her demise struck the heart all over the world earlier today.

Born in 1934 to freedom fighter Bodheswaran, and Sanskrit scholar VK Karthyaynini Amma, Sugathakumari came from a humble background with dreams to be the change in this world.
With a degree in philosophy from Kerala University and Thiruvananthapuram University College, Sugathakumari has always been inclined towards the betterment of nature and world, and even in her last days, she worked towards the very same goal.
Sugathakumari had won many awards for her melodious voice and the works she stood for, among which she has even been awarded Padma Shri, Kerala Sahitya Akademi and Kendra Sahitya Akademi award.

She was a melodious Malayalam poet as well as a social activist and was at the vanguard of many such protests among which one was saved silent Valley agitation in the 90s, soon after which her poem silent Valley showcased her close relationship and touch with Mother Nature.
The famous Malayalam poet Sugathakumari published many such poems about nature, but among the first ones was in 1957, since then she has shown her feelings in the way of poems in many such artistic ways. Some of her works are- Swapnabhoomi, Ambalamani, Paavam Manavahridayam, Pathirapookal, etc.
