On Tuesday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav called out the Election Commission of India (EC) for omitting numerous voters in the draft electoral rolls in Bihar. He also pledged to respond to an EC notice regarding a controversial voter ID he presented at a press conference, which was reportedly unofficial.

Speaking in Patna, Yadav remarked, “A response will be given. What’s the big deal? The Election Commission must account for the voters they’ve overlooked.” Yadav highlighted instances where fifty individuals from a single household were reportedly listed, showcasing the discrepancies. He intends to communicate these issues to the EC and present his case in Court.

A legal complaint has been lodged against Yadav at the Digha Police Station in Patna, accusing him of possessing two Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs). Advocate Rajiv Ranjan, who filed the complaint, has urged legal proceedings. On the other hand, Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh criticized Yadav and Lok Sabha’s Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, for allegedly misleading the public about the EC amid Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision effort.

Singh stated that the ECI, as a constitutional body, will take legal measures in response to Yadav’s comments. He added, “Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav spread confusion through lies. While misleading about the Special Intensive Revision, Yadav also misrepresented his voter ID. This constitutional entity will seek legal redress against such actions,” Singh told reporters.

These developments follow Yadav’s allegations about changes to his EPIC number and his name’s absence from the electoral roll. Despite owning a valid EPIC card, Yadav claims his name is missing from the voter list, highlighting potential irregularities in the electoral process.
