Is Robert “3D” Del Naja the real Bansky?

If the recent reports are to be believed, a Scottish journalist, Craig Williams, has found the man behind popular political murals made under the pseudonym ‘Bansky’.

According to Williams, Robert “3D” Del Naja, one of the founding members of the Bristol Band named ‘Massive Attack’, is indeed ‘Bansky’. He substantiated his claims by giving instances when Bansky’s work and Del Naja (who is himself a graffiti artist) band tours have coincided.

He said that Massive Attack’s September 2006 show at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl took place a week after a Bansky’s life-size replica of a Guantanamo Bay detainee was placed at Disneyland.  Adding on to his debate, Williams said Massive Attack’s New York stint in 2013 coincided with the appearance of Bansky’s mural “The Street Is in Play”.

Bansky’s ‘The Street Is in Play’ was made in 2013 in New York.

These arguments appeared because the satirical artist’s works have randomly appeared around the world and the only schedule to clash with his world art fair is of Massive Attack.

It is a more interesting theory because 3D has appeared in Thierry Guetta’s documentary “Exit Through The Gift Shop” talking about Bansky as though they were old friends. If 3D is Bansky, then nobody can mock the world like he did in the video.

Williams claims can also be false as earlier he said that Bansky is not just one but a group of graffiti artists. Let’s see which theory comes out to be true. For now we can just look at his famous murals and be in awe of Bansky-
