After watching them battle it out for 12 years, we’ll finally get a chance to watch two of the greatest rivals play on the same side. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will partner for the men’s doubles at the inaugural Laver Cup (in honour of legendary tennis player Rod Laver), scheduled in September 2017.
The debut edition of the Laver Cup, an international men’s tennis competition, will be held in Prague from September 22 to 24. It will match six top European players against their counterparts from the rest of the world. Björn Borg from Sweden and John McEnroe of the US will be captains for the first three years.
Novak Djokovic (Serbia), Andy Murray (Britain), Switzerland’s Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka will side with Europe. Milos Raonic (Canada), Kei Nishikori (Japan), Nick Kyrgios (Australia) and Bernard Tomic (Australia) are playing for ‘The World’. There are others in line to compete as well.
The three-day tournament will see 12 matches—9 singles and three doubles.
