Following the declaration of 22 BSP candidates for Madhya Pradesh assembly election scheduled for the end of this (2018) year, BSP Chief Mayawati has displayed her reluctance towards grand alliance in state assembly polls. Conversely, Samajwadi Party (SP) State Unit has decided to give priority to become a part of the grand alliance in Madhya Pradesh state assembly elections. During a state level meeting on Septemeber 10, the party decided to focus on its organizational structure and elected its divisional level heads.
Dr Sunilam, former MLA and Chief Spokesperson of Samajwadi Party, , Madhya Pradesh unit, told Newsd that “ A state-level party meeting is going to take place in Orchha on September 24, where election strategy and the first list of Samajwadi Party candidates list will be submitted to SP Chief, Akhilesh Yadav”.
“State Unit has decided to give priority to form an alliance with Congress, however, the final decision will be taken by Akhilesh Yadav. We are also ready to fight alone”, he added.
Speaking on the campaigning strategy, he said that, “Samajwadi Party Chief, Akhilesh Yadav will start campaigning tour from Shahdol and Balaghat for party, which will also provide a boost to state unit”.
Talking about the BSP step towards state election in MP, Sunilam opined that “Congress did not maintain the formalities of an alliance formation and following which, it happened.”
Although it is going to be a straight fight between Congress and BJP in upcoming state polls, however parties like BSP and SP could play a vital role in the formation of upcoming state government.
