Sanaa, directed by Sudhanshu Saria and starring Radhika Madan, will have its North American premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where it will be the only Indian film to be screened. Saria said, “The festival’s decision to invite Sanaa and premiere the film in North America is a tremendous honour. Their response confirms the universality of the film and the pressing need to continue discussions regarding female agency and autonomy, particularly in the American context.”
This year, notable Hollywood actors and Oscar nominees such as Brendan Fraser, Cate Blanchett, and Colin Farrell will be spotted at the festival. Sanaa is an introspective drama about an ambitious and strong-willed woman who is engaged in an internal conflict as a result of unresolved trauma. In addition to Radhika, the film also features Soham Shah, Shikha Talsania, and Pooja Bhatt.
Recently, Sanna had its World Premiere at the 26th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in front of packed houses and ecstatic reviews.
