Joao Cancelo may have completed his career with Manchester City. The Portugal fullback has reportedly travelled to Bayern Munich in preparation for a possible loan move to the German champions, who would have an option to purchase Cancelo for €70 million ($76 million).
Cancelo, a versatile defender who can play right or left back, has been an integral part of City’s defence in recent seasons but has fallen out of favour with manager Pep Guardiola since the World Cup.
Cancelo has only started three of City’s nine games in all competitions since late December, when domestic play resumed following the Qatar Cup.
At left back, Nathan Ake has been favoured over Cancelo, while 18-year-old Rico Lewis has established himself as competition for Kyle Walker at right back.
Neither City nor Bayern have commented on any potential Cancelo deal.
On Tuesday, the European transfer window will close.
