DMK leader MK Stalin on Wednesday said that if the death of the former CM J Jayalalithaa is probed, VK Sasikala will be sentenced to life imprisonment.

“If proper probe takes place into Jayalalithaa’s death, the person who’s in jail for four years now will be awarded lifetime imprisonment,” Stalin said while addressing the party workers who were on a day-long hunger strike to protest against the eviction of its MLAs from the Assembly.

Demanding a fresh trust vote in the state Assembly, Stalin said ““Hunger protest which we are undertaking today is not for us. It is against benami rule established in Tamil Nadu.”

Meanwhile, The Madras High Court had directed DMK to produce video clippings or any other recordings to substantiate its claim that the trust vote on February 18 was in contravention of the Assembly rules. The bench adjourned the case till February 27 for further hearing after the arguments.

Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami had won the trust vote against O Pannerselvam on February 18 in the state Assembly.
