Supreme Court’s two judge panel on Friday dismissed a petition seeking to send Indian Muslims to Pakistan. The bench which constituted Justice Rohinton Nariman and Vineet Saran were enraged at the petition and even warned to pass the strictures against petitioner’s counsel.

Justice Rohinton Nariman asked the petitioner’s counsel to read the prayer out loud, After the lawyer completed, the judge said, “Do you seriously want to argue this? We will hear you but we will pass strictures against you.”

When the petitioner’s counsel declined to argue the plea, the top court dismissed the petition.

In India, which identifies itself as a secular country, Muslims make up 14.2 per cent of the population.
