The Supreme Court has refused to hear a plea from the producers of ‘Jana Nayagan’, a Tamil film starring Vijay, concerning an interim Madras High Court order. This order had stayed a directive to grant censor board clearance for the movie.

Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih urged the producers to approach the division bench of the high court, questioning the rapid progression of the case in the Madras High Court.

The matter is now set for a decision on January 20.

The film, marketed as Vijay’s final cinematic appearance before a political career with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, faced certification delays from CBFC, postponing its planned Pongal release and drawing significant attention due to its political themes.
