In an important decision, the Supreme Court has today termed the strike of lawyers for the past 35 years in Uttarakhand as illegal.

Advocates had been carrying out this strike every Saturday in three districts of Uttarakhand. The Supreme Court, while awarding judgment in this regard, has considered it illegal.

While giving a decision on this today, he said that the strike of lawyers every Saturday in the district courts of Uttarakhand is equal to contempt.

The Supreme Court issued notices to the Bar Council of India and the State Bar Council regarding the strike of lawyers being held every Saturday in the district courts of Uttarakhand.
