According to a Facebook post from John F Kennedy’s niece, Kathleen Kennedy, former President George H W Bush is going to vote for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Kathleen, who is the former lieutenant governor of Maryland, posted a photograph on Facebook with a caption ‘The President told me he is voting for Hillary!!’
Bush, 92 is a member of US Republican Party and still bucking his own party’s presidential nominee, Donald Trump. George H.W. Bush’s spokesman Jim McGrath while commenting on the matter said, “The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days. He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim.”
In May this year H W Bush had made it clear that he would not endorse Donald Trump. George H W’s son and George W’s brother, Jeb Bush was one of Trump’s unsuccessful opponents in the 2016 Republican primary. George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush have stayed out of the political debate since their son’s unsuccessful bid.
Earlier many senior Republican national security officials had signed a letter declaring that Donald J. Trump lacks the character, values and experience to be president.
