Sexual assault of UKG student: Administration orders Hyd school to close primary wing

The Telangana Education Department has ordered the school to close its pre-primary wing and stated that “School had violated the government’s guidelines, the department also decided to revoke the school’s recognition for primary classes”.

After two weeks of the sexual assault of a UKG student at a school in Hyderabad’s old city, had created an issue for several parents. The Telangana Education Department has ordered the school to close its pre-primary wing and stated that “School had violated the government’s guidelines, the department also decided to revoke the school’s recognition for primary classes”.

However, the step has mounted problem for several students as well as for their parents. After the move, around 200 students will be affected and following which, district education officer (DEO) has scheduled a meeting with parents on Wednesday at the school vicinity, where DEO is expected to talk about where the children could be shifted and also ensuring that the fees paid, will also get reimbursed.

As per the reports, in September, the police booked 29-year-old Mohammed Geelani, who was a supervisor at the school, under Section 376 (Rape) of the IPC and relevant sections of the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting the student.
