From quite a few days, Rakesh Sharma biopic has been in the talks. The film tentatively titled as ‘Saare Jahaan se Achcha’ roped Shah Rukh Khan for the role of astronaut Rakesh Sharma. There were also speculations from a few days about the actor’s exit from the film post his previous film Zero’s failure.
Now, writer Anjum Rajabali has confirmed that SRK has decided to not to be part of the space drama after the failure of Zero.
Speaking about the exit of the actor, writer Anjum said “If you are asking me, there was a problem with the script (of Zero). Himanshu (Sharma) is a very talented person but things go wrong sometimes. I don’t think he said no to Saare Jahan Se Achcha because of space (angle). I think he is also pretty shaken up. He was banking a lot on that.”
Talking further about it, Rajabali stated that asking questions about SJSA is like “dukhti rag pe hath rakhna” (hitting a raw nerve) and said that people often blame everything else except for the script. “This whole practice and culture of postmortem, of analysing what went wrong hasn’t really caught on. What happens then is, there are knee-jerk reactions rather than responses even from the makers”, he said.
He continued, “Oh, it (the failure) could be because of space and hence we put two into two together. Oh, it’s because the time wasn’t right, nobody wants to see a star in a disabled person’s role.’ It could also well be that there was a problem with the DNA of the script.”
There were also rumours of Vicky Kaushal replacing the SRK in the film. Though there has been no confirmation on the same by the filmmaker or from the actor himself. Also, Ranbir Kapoor has also been approached for the same project.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is taking time to confirm his next movie and there are reports that the actor is thriving between ten scripts from well-known directors. Reportedly, the actor is also approached for a cop drama by Madhur Bhandarkar and he might also collaborate with Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali for their next flick.
There is no confirmation on the actor’s next move and now that the actor has moved out of the film, it will be interesting to see who will replace the actor in the much-awaited space drama based on astronaut Rakesh Sharma.
