In a dramatic development, Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Olympics on Wednesday for exceeding the weight limit by a mere 100 grams ahead of her women’s 50kg final.
Just a day earlier, Vinesh had made history by becoming the first Indian woman to reach the gold medal match in the event.
‘She was found overweight by 100 grams this morning, and the rules do not permit this. Hence, she has been disqualified,’ confirmed an Indian coach.
