Costco Gift Card Validity: If you shop often at Costco, there is some big news you should know. The company has shared that some restaurant gift cards sold in its stores are no longer valid. These are the Synergy Restaurant Gift Cards.
The company that issued these cards, Synergy Gift Card Network also known as Synergy World, has said it plans to file for bankruptcy. Because of this, it stopped its work right away. As a result, all gift cards under this network lost their value on January 31, 2026. It does not matter which restaurant was part of the program. Any card from this brand is now useless.
The affected cards were bought between October 27, 2025 and January 26, 2026. This has worried many shoppers who bought the cards to save money when eating out.

Costco has said members do not need to panic. If someone still has one of these gift cards with money left on it, they can go to any Costco warehouse store. At the customer service counter, they can ask for a full refund.
Food Recall Over Allergy Risk
There is also a food safety problem at Costco. On February 1, the company started recalling its caramel filled mini beignets. The issue happened because of a packaging mistake.
Some boxes that were supposed to have caramel beignets were packed with mini chocolate hazelnut beignets instead. The chocolate hazelnut version contains tree nuts, which were not listed properly on the label.
This is serious for people who have nut allergies.
What Members Should Do Now
Costco members who have these gift cards should not throw them away.
- They should take them to the Customer Service desk at their nearest Costco store and ask for their money back.
