New Delhi, Oct 11 (IANS) In the wake of ‘manhandling’ and arrest of a Sikh security guard of a BJP leader during a protest march in West Bengal, a three-member delegation of the DSGMC reached Kolkata on Sunday to meet Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to seek his release and action against the guilty policemen.

The delegation led by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Manjinder Singh Sirsa reached Kolkata at 12.30 pm and then proceeded to the Howrah police station to meet arrested security guard Balwinder Singh.

The delegation plans to meet the Governor at 4 pm at Raj Bhavan here to apprise him of the matter.

“We want that Balwinder Singh should be released and action taken against police personnel for attacking him,” Sirsa told IANS.

A video clip showing Balwinder Singh was shoved and his turban pulled off by the police in Kolkata during a protest march by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing to the state Secretariat Nabanna on Thursday went viral on the social media.

BJP leaders and many others flayed police for hurting the religious sentiments of Balwinder Singh, a personal security guard of BJP leader Priyanshu Pandey.

According to reports, a 9mm pistol was seized from Balwinder Singh after he showed firearm licence valid till January next year.
