An embarrassing goof up on the National Sports Day, has left the people of Visakhapatnam city in splits as a picture is going viral on social media showing a poster of tennis star Sania Mira with the name of veteran athlete PT Usha.
This banner was set up on the RK Beach Road in Vizag as part of the National Sports Day Celebrations by the Andhra Pradesh government. The blunder was spotted by one of the passers-by – who uploaded it on social media and the post became a big topic of discussion. The poster was soon removed after the authorities received the flak.
While the AP government is distributing cash rewards to the aspiring sportspersons in the state, netizens are mocking the lack of Sports Knowledge for the Government itself while making tall claims about encouraging sports and recognizing the Talent.
As part of the ‘Fit India’ programme, there were also posters of PV Sindhu, P Gopichand, Humpy Koneru, Dyan Chand and other famous players. The organisers are yet to respond to the issue.
