Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer Simmba have been raking in money from its release on December 28. The film which collected Rs 50 crore in just 3 days of its release, raked almost Rs 125 crore after 5 days of its release in theaters.
An official remake of the Telugu hit ‘Temper’, Simmba starring Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood in the pivotal roles, revolves around a corrupt cop named Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer), who falls in love with Shagun (Sara), who runs a catering service near his police station. He realises his responsibilities after the woman he considers his younger sister, 19-year-old medical student Aakruti Dave, gets brutally raped and killed.
Rohit Shetty directorial, Simmba is his eighth consecutive movie to cross Rs 100 crore mark on the box office collections. Rohit Shetty is receiving appraisals from the Simmba team and fans for achieving this benchmark.
Simmba also happens to be the biggest opener of Ranveer’s career. Simmba had collected Rs 20.72 crore on the opening day itself.
2018 had been a splendid year for Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan. While Sara debuted with Kedarnath, the Bollywood darling Ranveer ruled headlines for endless reasons. The lad got two biggest openers of his career (Simmba and Padmaavat), the critics adored him for his performances in both films, and of course, tied knots with co-actor Deepika Padukone.
Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba also marks the cameos of Ajay Devgun, who returns in his Bajirao Singham avatar and Akshay Kumar. The song Aankh Maarey also witnesses the special appearance of the Golmaal cast.
