The Lok Sabha on Wednesday was informed that as many as 136 cases of people found fallen on the track of Delhi Metro were reported since 2014, reported PTI.

During 2014-15, 46 people fell onto metro track; the number went up to 51 cases in 2015-16 and there were 39 cases in the current fiscal till November 14, said Minister of State for Urban Development Rao Inderjit Singh, citing Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) figures.

“The cases of persons found fallen on the metro track have been reported only in Delhi Metro Rail Network. DMRC has informed that they have found 46, 51 and 39 cases of persons falling on the metro track during the year 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 (as on 14.11.2016) respectively,” he said in a written reply.

The Minister also listed out various steps taken by Metro organisations to prevent suicide attempts over its rail network, including installation of large number of CCTV cameras and placing signage advising passengers to keep off the track.
