Small savings plans vs. bank fixed deposits

People who put money into bank fixed accounts do so for a set amount of time, like 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, or 5 years. This fixed deposit has fixed annual interest rates set by the bank. The rates change based on the depositor’s age and the length of time the FD is held.

At the moment, HDFC Bank is giving up to 7.75% interest rates on FD, but this depends on how long the deposit is kept and how old the depositor is. ICICI Bank has FD rates of up to 7.60% per year, and SBI has rates of up to 7.50% per year.

What are small ways to save money?

These are ways for people to save money that are run by the government to get people to save regularly. There are three types of small savings plans: savings accounts, social security plans, and monthly income plans.

There are time deposits that last between 1 and 3 years and ongoing deposits that last for 5 years. There are also savings certificates like the National Savings Certificate (NSC) and the Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP). The Public Provident Fund (PPF), the Sukanya Samriddhi Account, and the Senior Citizens Savings Scheme are all types of social security plans. The Monthly Income Account is part of the monthly income plan.

Every three months, the interest rates on small savings plans like the public provident fund (PPF), the national savings certificate (NSC), and the Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) are looked at again.

Small savings plans like PPF, NSC, and others now have interest rates that are tied to the market and change along with the 10-year G-Sec return.
