A snakelet was found in the mid-day meal served to the students of a government school on Thursday. The incident occured in a Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School in NIT-2, locally known as Town-2, in Faridababd. Two teachers and six students were hospitalised when they complained of nausea, after consuming the meal. They were discharged a little later.

A five-member committee has been constituted by Deputy Commissioner Sameer Pal Srow, headed by Tehsildar, Faridabad, to inspect the kitchen of the school and submit a report to him on Thursday itself. Another committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner is carrying out a probe into the matter.

The incident came to light after one of the students spotted the “snakelet” in the lunch served to her at the school and alerted the teachers. By that time, two of the teachers and six students had already consumed the food before the matter went to the school authorities. They complained of nausea and were rushed to Badshah Khan Government Hospital for medical examination. The students were discharged later in the day at the insistence of their parents.

According to sources, he also said that they will take action against anyone found responsible for this and make sure such incidents are not repeated in future.
