Sony A7R VI Launch Date in India: Sony has officially teased a new camera launch event for May 13, 2026, and almost everyone in the camera world believes the company is getting ready to unveil the new Sony A7R VI. The launch event will happen at 9:30 AM ET, which is 14:30 BST and 22:30 JST. Sony has not directly taken the camera’s name yet, but the teaser strongly hints at the next model in the famous A7R lineup. The current Sony A7R V came out back in 2022, so many photographers were already waiting for a big update.

Camera Upgrades
One of the biggest rumored upgrades is a brand new 67MP fully stacked Exmor RS sensor. According to industry leaks, this sensor may be much faster than the one inside the older A7R V. Faster sensor speed can help reduce rolling shutter problems when someone shoots moving cars, sports or fast panning video clips. Many photographers were asking for this improvement for years.
Another major leak says the camera could support up to 30fps continuous RAW shooting. That means the camera may capture 30 full-quality pictures every second. Earlier, high-resolution cameras were usually slower, but the A7R VI may now compete with sports-focused flagship cameras too. Reports also mention pre-capture support, which can save frames even before the shutter button is fully pressed. Wildlife photographers may find this very useful for birds and fast animals.
Sony is also expected to improve its AI autofocus system again. The camera may recognise humans, animals, birds, insects and vehicles more accurately than before. The in-body image stabilisation could also improve up to 8.5 stops.
Features
The Sony A7R VI is also rumored to bring stronger video features. Leaks suggest advanced 8K video recording support along with better cooling systems to stop overheating during long recordings. Sony may also add professional codecs for creators working on commercial films and high-end video projects.

The body design could also get changes. Reports say Sony may improve the grip shape, make the buttons easier to use and redesign parts of the menu system. Some leaks even suggest a larger battery for longer shooting time during travel videos, timelapses and event photography.
Price
On price, the rumor mill puts the body around $5,000. Using today’s exchange rate of about ₹95.3 to $1, that comes to roughly ₹4.8 lakh before taxes and import duties. If the leaks are right, the A7R VI would be Sony’s high-detail monster that also moves fast and handles video well.
There are also rumors that Sony could launch a new Sony FE 100-400mm GM OSS II lens together with the camera.
