SpiceJet staff attacked by Army official: On July 26, 2025 at Srinagar Airport one of the high-ranking Army officer totally loses it on four SpiceJet staffs just because they had the nerve to ask him to cough up for overweight cabin bags. Not exactly what you’d expect at the check-in counter. He was carrying 16 kg across two carry-on bags well over the 7 kg limit for flight SG‑386 to Delhi. Instead of cooperating, he allegedly refused payment, bypassed boarding procedures, and attacked the staff.

According to SpiceJet statements, the assault involved punches, repeated kicks, and even striking a staffer with an airport queue stand. One employee collapsed unconscious but continued to be kicked. Injuries reported included a spinal fracture, serious jaw damage, nosebleeds, and facial trauma. Three of the four injured staff remain hospitalized.

The officer first disregarded the cabin luggage restriction, tried to board the airplane without finishing check-in, and was stopped by CISF officer. Once led back to the gate, however, tensions turned into physical fighting, therefore highlighting questions about airport civilian-staff safety and procedure enforcement.

DGCA Mandates Airlines to Highlight Passenger Rights

Legal Action

A CCTV video shared on social media shows the man arguing with the staff before picking up his cabin baggage and rushing away. An FIR has been registered with the local police, and the airline has initiated the process to place the passenger on the no-fly list in accordance with civil aviation regulations, the airline said.

Per DGCA guidelines, SpiceJet has filed an FIR against the Budgam Police Station officer and has asked civil aviation authorities to list him on a no-fly list. The airline has also provided CCTV tape obtained from the airport to help with the inquiry.

Official response

The Indian Army has confirmed the incident and stated it is waiting on results of civil probes. Army sources stress that discipline is of utmost significance and that suitable internal actions will follow.

SpiceJet’s basically scrambling filing complaints left and right, looping in the CISF, bugging the Ministry of Civil Aviation. You can tell they’re desperate to get people back on their side and whip their staff into shape. Honestly, unless they stay transparent and actually throw some legal weight around (no matter who’s causing the drama), these incident will keep happening. Doesn’t matter if the troublemaker’s a VIP or just some random rules need to stick for everyone.
