Make sure to report any changes in income, like child support, pensions, unemployment benefits, or cash you’ve received, before the 10th of the next month.
How to Report Your Wages Online
If you receive SSI or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), you can report your wages online through my Social Security service. To use this service, you must have your own my Social Security account.
If you’re the spouse, parent, or sponsor of someone receiving SSI, you can also report their wages online. You can sign up for wage reporting reminders through email or text to help you remember to report your income each month.
Other Ways to Report Wages
If you want you can still report your income by fax, mail, or in person at your local Social Security office. For added security, you can use certified mail, but it is not required. Keep a copy of your pay stubs, records, and bank statements in case you need to verify your income later.

If you receive both SSDI and SSI, it may help to make two copies of your pay information, one for the SSDI team and one for the SSI team. This will make the process easier for the SSA, though it’s not necessary.
Keep Records of Your Income
Be sure to keep track of your earnings by saving pay stubs, pay records, and bank statements. This will help if you ever need to prove your income in the future.
Reporting your income regularly helps the SSA provide the right benefits and ensures you don’t run into problems. Stay on top of your reporting to keep everything smooth and avoid unnecessary delays or issues with your SSI payments.
When will you reiceve the SSI?
SSI benefits are usually paid on the 1st of each month. However, if the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment is made earlier. For example, January’s payment was made on December 31, and February’s will be paid on January 31, since February 1st is on a weekend.
