How often have you stumbled about a topic and ended up looking for information about it on Wikipedia? Could be quite a few times. At average on Wikipedia as many as six-thousand people come. Unlike many other online encyclopedias Wikipedia is completely free and solely works on the contributions made by its volunteers. But there is one reader-contributor whose number of edits and submissions rise above the rest.
Steven Pruitt a 33-year-old Virginia based netizens has the most number of edits and submission on the most popular encyclopedia on internet. A contractor at US Customs and Border Protection, Pruitt has been making edits on Wikipedia continuously for 13 years now and of course without a paycheck ever. He has around 3 million edits to his name till date, with more than 35 thousand original article submissions.

Pruitt goes by the name Ser Amantio di Nicolao on Wikipedia, the name of his favorite opera character. The first article that Pruitt wrote on Wikipedia was about Peter Francisco, a Revolutionary War hero who was also Pruitt’s great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather. He penned the article during his time at Willian & Mary college where he was studying art history. In 2017, TIME included Pruitt in their list of “The 25 Most Influential People on the Internet”.
In the recent years Pruitt has written on hundred of influential women to fight the gender bias that is present on Wikipedia. He says, “The last statistic I saw was that 17.6 percent of the biographical articles on Wikipedia(English) are about women”. Pruitt now takes out as many as three hours every day for studying, writing and editing on Wikipedia.
