Although the BJP is set to win all the three civic bodies, the ruling party on Wednesday devoted its imminent victory to the killed CRPF personnel in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district and declared that it will not celebrate the win.

“Every heart is filled with grief over the killing of 25 CRPF men in Sukma and the party will not celebrate the victory, said Delh BJP chief Manoj Tiwari. “We dedicate this win in the feet of Sukma martyrs,” he added.

The BJP candidates are maintaining leads over their rivals AAP and Congress in the majority of the 270 wards. Tiwari also stated that the result of MCD polls was a referendum on Kejriwal government.

“We had been saying this earlier also that MCD polls will be a referendum on Kejriwal government. Arvind Kejriwal used to advocate Right to Recall and it seems now that Delhi people have used the right on him,” he said.

Counting of votes began at 8 AM today. The polls were held on April 23 and saw a six-cornered fight between Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), PM Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rahul Gandhi-led Indian National Congress (INC) and Yogendra Yadav-led Swaraj India. The two other parties contesting polls include are JD(U), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP).
