Exclusive: Sumit Awasthi fired from News 18 for manhandling Congress spokesperson Rajiv Tyagi

An internal investigating committee report of the channel found Awasthi, guilty of misbehaving with Tyagi.

News 18 anchor and deputy managing editor, Sumit Awasthi has been fired by the channel for his job at the channel after he was found guilty of misbehaving with Congress spokesperson Rajiv Tyagi during a live debate.

An internal investigating committee report of the channel found Awasthi, guilty of misbehaving with Tyagi.

Sources have confirmed the development to Newsd, Sumit is all set to join ABP News after being thrown out of the job from the channel. During the Loksabha polls 2014, he was also in the news for allegedly manhandling senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi.

Sumit started his career with Zee News as a resident editor and he has an experience of over 22 years, working with top media houses in the country. Awasthi is known political journalist of the country.

“I am a political person and represent a certain party. I am a large-hearted person, anchors of news channels are busy debating Hindu –Muslim agenda, rather they should focus on other serious issues of unemployment and development,” Rajiv Tyagi said to Newsd.
